Wow, it's been a long and productive day. Today we woke up bright and early around 7 and ate a delicious breakfast with all sorts of yummy food including plantains both fried and sautéed .
We left to the community of Santa Rosa and met with the community leadership. They were very expressive and responsive and really made us feel at home. We talked with them about their water needs. The main takeaway was, "we want water year round."
After the meeting, we walked to each of the communities to identify the water sources. There were multiple sources, some dried up and one tank that was functioning but not providing water to the entire community. Skipping a bit, then came LUNCH. Brian's comment " it seems like we are always eating" which I fully agree with. We had a delicious lunch and saw some other water sources on the other side of the river.
The day ended with a dusty drive back followed by a shower and you guessed it, more FOOD. We recapped at the end of the night and discussed game plans for tomorrow.
Signing off -A very full Deepika
